A new asphalt driveway is one of the first things people notice about a home. Hogan Paving has been laying smooth, lasting driveways across Fredericton since 1989 — from the older streets of Devon and Marysville to the newer builds out in New Maryland and Hanwell.
We are a family-run paving company, not a crew that rolls into town for a season and disappears. We have paved driveways on both sides of the Saint John River for more than three decades, and a lot of our work in Nashwaaksis and Silverwood comes from neighbours who saw the last job we did down the street.
Fredericton soil and grades are not the same from one neighbourhood to the next. A sloped lot in Silverwood needs a different approach than a flat, low-lying property near Lincoln. We grade for proper drainage, compact the base, and lay hot-mix asphalt at the right depth so it holds up year after year.
This page is part of our wider residential paving service, focused on homeowners here in the capital. For everything we cover across the city, see our Fredericton hub.

The real test of a Fredericton driveway is not the day it is poured — it is March, when the ground swells and shrinks through the freeze-thaw cycle. Water that seeps into a thin or poorly drained driveway freezes, expands, and cracks the surface from the inside out.
We build to handle that. A properly compacted gravel base gives meltwater somewhere to go, the asphalt is laid thick enough to flex without breaking, and edges are shaped so winter runoff drains away from the slab instead of pooling under it.
It is the same reason we recommend sealcoating every few years along the Vanier and Hanwell corridors, where driveways take the full brunt of plows, road salt, and standing slush each spring.

Our paving season runs from late spring through fall, once the ground has thawed and dried out. Late May through October is ideal here — warm enough for the asphalt to bond and cure properly before the first hard frost. We book up fast for summer, so reach out early if you are planning a Nashwaaksis or Silverwood project.
